Kevin McClaren

Senior Black Belt

I have been practicing taekwondo since the age of three and began competing at the age of six.  Thanks to taekwondo, I have had the opportunity to train with and learn from some of the top athletes and coaches from all over the world.  Taekwondo has taught me discipline and to be responsible in my actions.  Since I have been competing my whole life, I had decided to take some time off from competition and recharge and rekindle my love for this sport. Now I am competing in the ECTC circuit and hope to compete in some of the Open’s around the world.   My goals are to represent my school, Wentworth Institute of Technology at ECTC and Collegiates as well as represent the USA at Maccabi games in 2021.

When I was 11 I became more interested in my Jewish heritage.  I found going to synagogue to be interesting and formed a friendship with my rabbi, David Ingber.  We had a lot in common as he is also a blackbelt in taekwondo. He has always encouraged me to stay focused on the things that are important to me and be open to learn new things.
